Arsenal keen on Carvalho

The Davids breathe a sigh of relief at not having to go through with parting with that much money

Herby,

the Barcodes will be desperate come January as they ar getting sucked in to the relegation battle. With the added pressure of the takeover it will have an effect. We may only be getting rid of him on a loan to buy but at least he'll be gone for 5 months (hopefully).

Herby 2:00 Fri Dec 15
Re: January transfers
We will not be spending mega money on anyone in this window. It will be loan with option to buy so that both us and the player have a get out in the event of relegation. Problem with that is you very rarely see big players like carvalho, Walcott ect go loan to buy. I think we will see a couple of signings like the young defender from reading but that’s about it. Fuck Carroll off and I will be over the moon.

With luck, Sullivan won't be using any expression for the next couple of months, preferring instead to keep his trap shut.

£60m plus
No chance on any level

Re: January transfers
I mentioned Aubameyang as Big Sam was touting him as possible Everton signing.
Dortmund are out of the Champions League and he missed the boat in the summer when bigger Premier league clubs looked elsewhere.
Probably a bit like Lacazette was in that he needs to make the move sooner rather than later.
Obviously the problem is convincing him that a team in the bottom 3 is a better option than a big Italian club for example.

Is definitely NEXT LEVEL though if Sullivan is still using that expression.
People talk about players being expensive in January but on the evidence of last summer by the time we get to July there will be another big jump in prices.
What were £30m players (eg someone like Kyle Walker) became £50m & probably closer to £70m by then.

Re: January transfers
yes, seen him play a lot, especially when he won the European Championships in 2016 and he's better than anything we currently have

Re: January transfers
We 100% dont need anymore strikers.

Attacking winger and a CM would be prefect.

Can see them wanting to offload a couple before that happens anyway.

Sakho and maybe even Kayoute if there were any takers. I definitely would not be selling anyone else even Carroll.

Willtell 10:51 Fri Dec 15
Re: January transfers
Is Carvalho any good? We talk about him as though he's God's gift to CM but if that was the case wouldn't he be at a bigger club than Sporting Lisbon? How many people have actually seen him play? I haven't.

Is it just that as his club were demanding €40m we all assume he's the mut's nuts? I know Sporting are big in Portugal but I think there is a big jump to the PL and doesn't the club want players to hit the ground running so to speak?

Nicey 10:33 Fri Dec 15
Re: January transfers
With Carroll, Hernandez, sakho, Ayew and now Antonio and possibly Arnautovic competing for one spot I would say we need to offload probably Sakho, Ayew and Carroll before adding anymore non scoring strikers to the pool

Re: January transfers
Dont want wheelchair, everyone is raving about him last night but thought he did exactly what id expect him to do. Alot of side way passes keeping the midfield ticking over. Its what any Arsenal midfielder should be doing. Lets not pretend he was outstanding, he did balloon the only chance he had too

Dont want Walcott, ticks every box for exactly what sort of signing we are trying to get away from

Need a CM, would take Carvalho
Need a LW
Need a RB on loan for cover if we can

Players that want to get into world cup squads are who we should be targeting

Sturridge on loan would be great if we can offload AC and Sakho

Re: January transfers
Carvalho is SUCH a Moyes player, think he would be perfect to give us someone in midfield who can not only break it up but actually find a player moving forward. Of course a striker, goes without saying.
